Travel to unique Prague

First time in the beautiful capital of the Czech Republic; Get out a paper and pencil and take notes to organize a great trip

How to travel?

For Prague you will find a direct air connection from Athens with Aegean flights.

If the cost of the tickets seems expensive to you because you will not find a low cost airline, you can travel with a stopover or choose to combine your trip to Prague with Vienna where you will find cheap flights and a fast connection between the 2 cities by train.

Transfers

For your transfer from the airport to the city center you will find the Airport Express (€2.5) where it ends at Prague Main Station and then you can walk to the old town or take the metro. If you choose uber or taxi the cost is around 22€.

The historic center of Prague is not very big and you can walk around it and admire the wonderful architecture and how well preserved its center is. You will also find trams and metros that connect the old city with the new.

Attractions
  • Charles Bridge, It connects Prague Castle with the old town and is the ultimate romantic route over the Vltava River. You will admire the baroque statues along the bridge and don't forget to touch the base of the statue of St. John of Nepomuk for good luck. Also at the end of the bridge you will find yourself in front of the impressive 14th century black tower welcoming you to the old town

  • Old Town Square, the most recognizable point of the city since the colorful baroque buildings of this square over 600 years old give it the character of a fairy tale. Also here you will find the excellent astronomical clock and the magnificent Church of Our Lady of Tyn.

  • Prague Castle, at the top of the hill dominates the impressive 9th century castle, which was the seat of power for Czech emperors, kings and presidents. In the center of the complex is the Gothic cathedral of St. Vitus with its impressive stained glass windows while to the right of the complex don't forget to walk down Golden lane, a street of pastel tiny houses most of which are now tourist shops.

  • Wenceslas Square, in close proximity to the old town you will find the central town square. Former horse market is now the shopping center of the city where the National Museum of Prague ends. Here you will also find the famous statue of Saint Wenceslas perched on a horse, while don't forget to visit the beautiful Lucerna Passage just 100m from the square.

A short distance from here is the powder Tower where it separates the old and the new town!!!

  • Dancing House , walking south along the banks of the Vltava River from the old town you will come across the well-known Dancing House, a modern office complex with a hollow design by architect Frank Gehry and a rooftop restaurant overlooking the city.

Accomodation

If you are visiting Prague for the first time, we would suggest that you choose accommodation in the historic center to experience the unique atmosphere of the city and to be close to most attractions. Also in the center you will find many boutique hotels with wonderful rooms.

Accommodation in the new city will be more affordable with more modern hotels and more nightlife. The choice is yours...

Food

Food and beer have their due in Prague, so when you visit try:

  • Koleno , pork shank marinated in beer

  • Roast duck with potato dubblings and Knedliky

  • Utopenci, pickled sausage with paprika and onion great to accompany a beer

  • Czech goulash, although the original recipe belongs to Hungary, here you will find its variation

  • Trdelnik, our well-known chimney covered with cinnamon sugar and extra whipped cream or ice cream

  • Absinthe, also known as the drink of the "green fairy" with an alcohol content of 70%

Restaurants
  • If you want to spend your evening in an authentic medieval tavern with a show and seasonal food, then the 2 restaurants we recommend are: Krčma U Pavouka, Krčma and both are located in close proximity to the old town square. We will say that they are very touristic and the food is nothing special, but we went and it was fun!!! If you want to reserve a place for food and a show, go here

  • Kolkovna Olympia, for authentic Czech dishes accompanied by genuine pilsner beer.

  • TRITON Restaurant, this is one of the gourmet restaurants of the city with the tables located in a cave room...
