''A few words about our trip''

During the festive season of Christmas we traveled to Berlin to spend 5 nights ... Wanting to see a lot of places and Roadtrip lovers we rented a car and spent 2 days in Berlin and one each in Quedlinburg and Dresden (if you want to see our route click here). From the second day we once again experienced heavy snowfall in all the cities, but they did not hinder our journey at all and gave a unique character to the celebrations we achieved.

But let's focus on Berlin and what you can see in 2 days (that's how much we managed to sit). Whether you're a fan of art and museums or cold war history or you like the alternative music scene, Berlin has it all. You will meet all kinds of travelers who have come for their own purpose and all this variety you will meet makes Berlin unique

Kurfürstendamm , shopping street
Attractions

  • Museum Island ,Berlin's Museum Island is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and hosts the city's most important exhibition centers: Museum Altes, Museum Neues ,Museum Bode, το Museum Pergamon και την Alte Nationalgalerie . To book a ticket and avoid the queues, click on the museum you want above.

If you want to visit all the above museums and have unlimited journeys with public transport for 3 days, choose to get the Berlin WelcomeCard (€52) where you will save money and queues at the ticket offices. For details and purchase click here

Brandenburg Gate, without a doubt the most famous attraction of Berlin and also from here and walking along the main street Unter den Linden to Alexanderplatz you will meet the most important sights of the city.

Starting from the Gate next to it you will meet the impressive Holocaust Memorial with free entry to the area surrounded by 2,711 bricks

Next and before crossing the Museum island you will see the German Historical Museum (Baroque armory and modern glass hall that hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions about German history.)

On the island, in addition to all the museums we mentioned earlier, you will be speechless by the Berlin Cathedral and the Humboldt Forum located opposite

If you want to see what life was like in Berlin before the unification and the fall of the wall, you will come across a unique exhibition-museum that is worth going in and getting a taste of, and that is the DDR Museum (€12.50), for tickets click here .(Located next to the cathedral.)

Then and just before reaching Alexanderplatz you will admire the interior of St. Mary's Church, the impressive statue of Poseidon and of course the famous TV tower that can be seen from every corner of the city.

  • Nikolaiviertel, perhaps Berlin's prettiest neighborhood built since 1200 in pastel shades on cobbled streets around the St. Nicholas Church. You will also find amazing restaurants along the river Spree such as "Ephraims" and "Zille-Stube"

  • Potsdamer Platz, once the bustling heart of the city before the Second World War is now dominated by the presence of the Sony Center, skyscrapers and endless shops. From here you will start to explore the area and like a true "researcher" go to the spy museum with interactive exhibits, gadgets and sets from Bond films (tickets here) and end up at the famous "Checkpoint Charlie" where he demarcated East & West Berlin. On the route you will walk parallel to the "Berlin Wall".

  • Kurfürstendamm, Berlin's shopping street where you will find the country's largest department stores (KaDeWe, GALERIA Berlin Kurfürstendamm, Bikini Berlin, Primark etc). It is a modern area where you will visit for your shopping, also in the area you will meet the restored Temple of Emperor William and of course the entrance to the largest park in the country, the Tiergarten.

  • Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and Potsdam , take one of your days and do a day trip to historic Potsdam with its stunning palace and gardens as well as a guided tour of the concentration camp to understand the cruelty of the crimes committed against the Camp's victims.
