Travel to Stockholm - Sweden

Updated: Nov 14, 2022

The capital of Sweden built on 14 islands and with its endless bridges will enchant you... We visited it in early December and it was decorated for Christmas with markets in its old town Gamla Stan and scattered decorated fir trees in the city center to get you in the climate of the time.

How to travel All flights land at ARN (Arlanda) airport about 40' from the center of Stockholm. To get to the center, the cheapest solution is FLIXBUS where you can download the app and buy a one-way ticket (9.9€) click here, the most popular way is the Arlanda express trains (27€/oneway) but if you are 2 people it has 60 % discount details here.

The cost for the taxi is around €50 so if you are 3 people it is worth it!!! Accomodation Although you will hear that Sweden is a very expensive country in everything (as it is) in hotels we can say that it is like any European city. In the 50-100€/double room category you will find many hotels and quite close to the city center.

Ours was the Ibis Styles Stockholm Odenplan and it was excellent. Transportation in the city To move around the city you will find a real Metro work of art where most of its stations are painted and rightly so it is one of the attractions of this city. The ticket cost is around €3.50 for a 75' journey and you should get the SL card or buy your ticket through the app on your mobile phone.

A very popular way of moving and more economical are the Lime skates where you will find them everywhere in the city and with excellent bike paths they will make your movement more fun even in the cold!!!
