A trip to Mexico and specifically to the Yucatan Peninsula with a long history of Mayan culture !! You will find flights with a stopover country of Europe to land in the cosmopolitan Cancun but we visited it on our trip from Cuba with a very cheap air ticket (aeromexico). We chose for our base the city Playa del Carmen which is located between Cancun and Tulum and we stayed at Hotel Riviera Caribe Maya Playa Del Carmen Mexico with a cost of € 55 / double per day which left us with great impressions !!! During the 7 days we visited most of the sights with excursions from a local operator that you can find on the main pedestrian street of Playa del Carmen and before you close compare the prices !!
Worth seeing:
1) Pyramid of Chichen Itza - Valladolid city
2) Cenote Ik-Kil
3) Pyramid of Coba - Mayan ruins at Tulum
4) Excursion to the neighboring island of cozumel and excursion from there to the magical Playa "El Cielo"
5) Spend a day at the X-caret theme park where it was a truly unique experience for us (MAYA RIVER)
6) Excursion to Isla Mujeres and if you are lucky enough to swim with a whale shark
7) See in Cancun the strip of land that separates the sea from the lagoon in the hotel zone !!!
EXTRA TIPS !! On this trip we went alone, and to emphasize that there was an excessive police presence everywhere in all the places we went and we did not feel in danger anywhere !! We did not rent a car but with the coaches from the excursions everything was easier and cheaper !!
Also from Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen & Tulum there are airbuses that transport you economically and with great safety !!
