Cuba - Travel tips

  • We are traveling in this post to the enchanting Cuba, a journey into the unknown to us since most of our acquaintances who had gone were only with tourist offices organized and with a specific program. Also, if you want to travel alone without an agency, you should do a good research beforehand, since it requires searching to find internet trips and to plan your trip. Most attractions with a quick search will surely find you easily. Here are 10 tips if you plan to travel to Cuba yourself:

1) The visa for Cuba is issued by specific agencies in the center of Athens, so he called the embassy and they will guide you. You also need travel insurance to enter the country.

2) Hotels in Havana have quite expensive prices, search on airbnb for rooms in the city center with cheaper prices, traditional architecture and in the center of the old city which is the life of Havana

3) Avoid the many taxis which are unreasonably expensive

4) Do not wait for wifi on airbnb, maybe the hotels have this in their lobby. If you want internet you should get a prepaid access card to the shared wifi of Havana that you will find in central parts of the city. (That's why you will see many locals sitting in the squares with their mobile phones)

5) For city to city travel we took the Viazul buses (https://www.viazul.wetransp.com/) where it was fine and safe and modern. You can book and buy a ticket online.

6) For our excursions from Varadero to Cayos Blancos and our excursion to Santa Clara - Trinidad - Cienfuegos we booked via https://www.cubatravelnetwork.com/home where mini buses came and picked us up from the hotel and turned us around !!

7) Signature Ride is also with the old American cars, to know that if you want to save money go for the ride at noon where they have no job and with a bargain the price drops to 50% of the original

Cigars and Havana RUM can be found almost everywhere and at very low prices,

9) The food is almost wherever you eat about the same, what stood out was La Vitrola in plaza vieja which was the best for us at reasonable prices !!

10) Let go of your suspensions and experience the magic of dance and rhythm, in every corner of Havana you will find a band playing in public
